New Patients Welcome

Interested in joining the Dentists of Owatonna Family? We welcome you to schedule your New Patient appointment and allow us to show you the quality of care and personal touch we are proud to provide our patients. Here’s an overview of what you can expect for your first office visit.
1. Complete Your Medical and Dental History Forms – As a new patient, our office will need to collect some basic details pertaining to your medical and dental health. This includes allergies, current medications, existing conditions, and more. This not only ensures that you receive the best dental care, but also that you remain safe while under our care.
2. Your First Appointment – Unless you are visiting us as a result of an immediate dental problem, your first visit will include a complete oral examination. If needed, our staff will take diagnostic x-rays and perform a periodontal screening.
3. Follow-Up Consultation – This will be scheduled if it is determined that more time is needed to review the discovered diagnostic details, to discuss a personalized treatment plan, costs, and more. 

Meet Our Dentists

Dr. Jeffrey Huxford

Dr. Jeffrey Huxford is originally from Waldorf, MN. In 1992 he received his DDS degree from the University of MN, and started practicing dentistry in Owatonna as an associate of Dr. Kirby Knutson. He became a partner in the practice in 1995. 


Dr. Huxford is an active member of the American Dental Association and Minnesota Dental Association. He has represented the Minnesota SE District in a variety of leadership roles including past president, delegate, Executive Committee member, and Peer Review Committee member. 


During his years practicing in Owatonna, Dr. Huxford also served as an Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota, where he worked with the Oral Anatomy Department, General Practice Residency Program, and Hospital Dentistry Program.


Dr. Huxford was one of several dentists who helped establish the Free Dental Clinic in Owatonna, providing dental care to underserved members of the community. The clinic is now operated by Healthfinders Collaborative.


He currently works and volunteers part-time with University of Minnesota students through an outreach program at Healthfinders Collaborative clinics in Faribault and Owatonna. 


Dr. Huxford and his wife, Michelle, reside in Owatonna. They have six children and eleven grandchildren. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys the outdoors, especially fishing and helping with local sport activities.

Dr. Nicholas Wiese

Dr. Nicholas Wiese was born in Northfield, MN and currently resides in Owatonna with his wife, Ann, and two children, Annika and Connor. He earned his DDS degree from the University of MN in 1999. Dr. Wiese became an associate dentist in 2000. In January 2008, he became a full partner with The Dentists of Owatonna Family Dentistry.


Dr. Wiese is an active member of The American Dental Association and the Minnesota Dental Association and has served as the SE MN representative on the MN Dental Education Committee. 

Dr. Bronson Schelling

Dr. Bronson Schelling is a native of Owatonna, having graduated from Owatonna High School in 2006. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Minnesota State University, Mankato, MN in 2010. Dr. Schelling earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2014 with Distinction Honors. He started as an associate dentist with The Dentists of Owatonna in 2014 and has since become a full partner. 


Dr. Schelling currently resides in Owatonna with his wife, Nichole, sons: Henry, Owen, and Myles and their goldendoodle Tucker. When not practicing dentistry, he enjoys spending time outdoors, especially fishing, camping, mountain biking, and coaching youth football and lacrosse. Currently he is an active member of the American and Minnesota Dental Association and Owatonna Lacrosse Board. Dr. Schelling enjoys practicing dentistry in his hometown of Owatonna.
